What Exactly Is Perfectionism? Having a painstaking drive to achieve excellence is what is meant by the term “perfectionism.” Someone who possesses this trait is considered to be a perfectionist.
The concept of “perfectionism” is one of the most widespread beliefs in our civilization. Observe that I used the term “belief” in my sentence.
In every single part of this world that we live in, perfectionism is seen to be admirable and desired, but imperfection is considered to be undesirable or unfavorable. Everyone in the world desires for everyone else to be flawless. When they are on the job, managers expect their employees to perform flawlessly. They want their children to be the best they can be. Those who strive for perfection want both their work and themselves to be flawless.
Would it be accurate to say that perfectionism is an absolute or universal ideal, given the widespread belief that it is a beneficial trait? To my knowledge, this is not the case.
In my opinion, it is relative and originates from the conception of humans. The concept of perfection is a concept. This is a notion of a condition of affairs that is considered to be ideal. Having said that, the circumstances are as they are. When it comes to every situation, the truth is what is there in every single occasion. Furthermore, perfection and imperfection are only values that are related to one another.
It is not my intention to imply that perfectionism is a negative trait. Specifically, I am implying that perfectionism may be able to exert a controlling influence over the way in which we display our happiness. It is possible to accomplish the desired objective with or without the presence of a perfectionist. If, on the other hand, one is a perfectionist, there is very little opportunity for that person to accept and love themselves without conditions when a goal that they have set for themselves is not achieved. When our needs are not met, we experience feelings of unhappiness or an inability to be completely pleased. However, the reality is that we only have the opportunity to live in each and every minute of the Present minute. If we strive for perfection, our minds will always be preoccupied with planning and contemplating the future, or they will be wallowing in regret over the mistakes that were made in the past. As a result of these tendencies, many perfectionists are unable to experience fulfillment. This is because, in their minds, they never seem to do things that are good enough to merit the feeling of happiness that they are currently experiencing.
There is a contradiction in life that may be seen from this. To clarify:
“How can one have perfect peace, self-love and joy when one is a perfectionist?”
