Due to the fast-paced nature of today’s culture, we have developed a habit of filling the eerie quiet with meaningless words and phrases. As a means of protecting ourselves from emotions of inactivity or boredom, we resort to a wide variety of distractions. However, the most important thing that we want to avoid is being alone. The experience of solitude does not have to be isolating or lonely. In point of fact, solitude and loneliness are two quite distinct concepts.
It is possible to experience feelings of isolation if you have lost a loved one or if you are unable to locate people who can comprehend your situation. Webster’s dictionary provides a clear definition of loneliness, which is defined as the absence of companionship.Î: Experiencing a sense of emptiness while also yearning for affection or approval is a natural emotion. Because of this, loneliness is an emotional condition that can be experienced by a person regardless of whether or not they are physically alone.
“In cities, no one is quiet, but many are lonely,” Geoffrey F. Fisher once stated. “In the country, people are quiet, but few are lonely.” this statement was made by Geoffrey F. Fisher.
The tendency is for us to fill loneliness with a variety of different distractions. On Friday nights, for instance, there are some single women who would prefer spend the evening with a man in whom they have no true interest than spend the evening alone themselves. In the meantime, while they wait for the man they are genuinely looking for, they are looking for a way to pass the time. On the other hand, there are young adults who are a part of cliques, and they are unable to truly connect with the people within their group. In spite of this, many would prefer to experience acceptance on a superficial level rather than run the danger of feeling excluded. Consequently, what is it about being alone yourself that causes us to feel fear?
Keep in mind that the unfamiliarity of stillness should not frighten you. The power of silence may be quite remarkable. It will teach you how to listen with your ears. It teaches you to pay attention to what is occurring within you, which is a valuable skill. The only time we are able to have the space and tranquilly that we require in order to contemplate without being influenced by others is when we are by ourselves. Not only does this make it simpler to make significant judgements, but it also makes it simpler to recognise whatever emotions are building up inside of you.
In order to be able to make decisions that are conscious rather than merely reacting to your feelings, you need to get in touch with yourself. Recognise and value the time you have to all by yourself. In order to better prepare yourself for the chaos that exists in the modern world, allow yourself to find calm and understanding.
