Taking a Break from Technology Is a Personal Choice, Not a Statement
In today’s hyper-connected world, people often misinterpret someone’s decision to step away from their phone or data for a few days. But not using an Android phone for a few days or turning off your data package for a while is a personal choice — a conscious decision to recharge mentally and emotionally.
It simply means I want to keep away from the so-called society engagement or step back from the tech mafia and freak influence. It does not mean that I am supporting those who are anti-technology or that I am an anti-technology person myself.
When I decide to use my phone or internet again after feeling refreshed, it’s a vital personal decision. It’s not about picking sides or supporting anyone between tech and anti-tech.
My Internet Use Is My Own Personal Space
I use the internet for my personal entertainment and activities — not to follow any cult, trend, or ideology. I don’t support any neighbor’s opinion or anti-tech opinion.
When I’m online, it’s for things like writing blog posts, applying for jobs, or even working on ideas for an AI venture. Every time I log on, it’s because I choose to, not because I’m obeying anyone or following any movement.
A Long History with the Internet
I’ve been using the internet since the early days — back when Friendster, MySpace, and Orkut were the main social platforms. Even before that, I connected to the web using dial-up when companies like Gerries and other internet service providers sold internet hours on physical cards with login IDs and passwords.
I was online during the days of MSN and Yahoo chat rooms, and even before that, I spent time on AOL and mIRC chat rooms.
So, for me, using the internet for personal activities like chatting, knowing people, watching movies, downloading content, reading books, or exploring new knowledge has always been a purely personal choice.
It’s About Balance, Not Sides
Taking a break from technology or coming back to it is not about picking sides between being a “tech supporter” or an “anti-tech” person. It’s about balance — using technology when it benefits your life and stepping away when it becomes overwhelming.
I’ve always believed that the internet should be a tool for freedom, creativity, and personal expression, not something that defines your loyalty or social belonging.
Final Thoughts
Using or not using the internet, social media, or smartphones should remain a personal decision. Whether it’s for chatting, knowing people, watching movies, reading, or starting an AI venture, it’s about choice, not conformity.
Taking a short break from digital life is not rebellion — it’s self-care.
And when you return to the online world refreshed, that’s not a comeback; that’s you taking control of your digital journey.
